Frequently Asked Questions

Are you able to guarantee me registration as a dental hygienist?

Unfortunately, it’s the GDC who provides registration and it’s not in our hands so we are unable to “guarantee” your registration.

However, as we want to keep our success rate 100% and we will not waste both your time and our time if we feel you are not eligible during our pre-assessment check. We start working with you only once we believe that you WILL BE registered and we keep on supporting you untill GDC accepts your application.

How long does the assessment process take?

GDC has a maximum of four months from receipt of the complete application to inform an applicant of its decision. A complete application means an application that is ready to be assessed without any missing documentation. We will ensure your application is a complete application without any missing documentation.

Do you work closely with the GDC panel members?

GDC is a national entity so no adviser or consultancy work closely with their panel. However, we have been working in this sector for quite some time, and understand GDC's requirements very closely and have completed & succeded with rather complex applications.

What is the English evidence required for this application?

You will need an IELTS score of overall 7.0, with no less than 6.5 in each components.

Alternatively, this may also be fulfilled by
1) Recent qualification taught and examined in English, graduated within the last 24 months.
2) Recent experience of working as a (Trainee) Dental Nurse in UK.

What happens in the GDC assessment process?

Once submitted, your application will be referred to GDC's independent panel of dentally qualified assessors, the Registration Assessment Panel.

The Registration Assessment Panel meets every six to eight week and all applications are sent to the assessors three weeks in advance of a meeting. The role of the Panel is to provide advice and recommendations regarding each applicants knowledge and skills to the Registrar – the Panel is not a decision making body.

Following the Panel meeting the Council executive will review the recommendations of the Panel and make a decision whether or not to grant registration. Following this you will be informed of the Council’s decision in writing normally within 4-6 weeks after the panel meeting.

Do you still help me if I get refused registration?

Yes ofcourse. As you may know already, GDC may not accept your application in the first time. In that case, further documents needs to be supplied. We help you through out the journey from start to finish.

That’s why, we only start working with you once we believe that you WILL BE registered and we keep on supporting you untill GDC accepts your application.

Can I register as dental therapist?

We will only be able to advise you whether you are eligible for dental hygienist or for dental therapist after reviewing all your documents during pre-assesment.
